MYND - Fine Progressive Sounds For Heart and Mynd

The ROCK HARD magazine certifies "feeling for arrangements and hooklines", the ECLIPSED sees "a lot of passion and inventiveness", GITARRE & BASS certifies a "strong debut album with many facets" and STREETLIVE.TV speaks of a "very extraordinary work": With excellent reviews for the debut album "Awake", the band MYND from Vogelsberg has been able to draw impressive attention to itself since 2015. Anyone who likes an independent mix in the musical neighborhood with bands like Porcupine Tree, Rush or Opeth will certainly want to listen to MYND.

The members Erik Grösch, Tom Brenneis and Uwe Ruppel may still be known to some fans through their work with the legendary progressive metal trio ANNON VIN. Despite the dissolution of the band at the end of the 90s, the three musicians remained in constant contact and so, around 2010, the decision was made to become musically active again. While jamming together, it quickly became clear that the friends had absorbed many new, interesting musical influences over the years, which were reflected in the ideas and compositions. It was therefore only logical that this spirit should find its expression in a whole new project with a more open musical orientation...

With Christoph Metzendorf (formerly SIAWASH), who was well known from the local scene, a keyboard player was soon found who, with his feel for exquisite keyboard and synth sounds, was to decisively enrich and expand the new sound of the project. Singer Marc Laukel, who has already left some traces in the progressive rock/metal scene with bands like TELLTALEHARD or ELYSIAN FIELDS, was well remembered by the guys from joint performances in the past, which is why getting in touch was only natural. A last building block for the independent MYND sound was found…

Jamming together, a number of songs quickly developed that now had to be brought into an audible form. That didn't prove to be a problem, because guitarist Erik Grösch, who meanwhile was also able to make a name for himself as an audio engineer and producer as well as the operator of the NEWAY studios in Haunetal (e.g. productions for MEKONG DELTA, ....),naturally took the role as producer for the recording of the first album "Awake", which finally saw the light of day in 2016 and eventually the CD was released through the band's own mail order.

The reactions to the debut in the "scene" were consistently very positive to exuberant, many online and offline media - from ROCK HARD to ECLIPSE, DEAF FOREVER, STREETLIVE, etc. - attested to the work and its songs a lot of musicality, a unique sound and high recognition value. As a result, the first edition of “Awake” quickly sold out.

In spring 2022, "Awake" was released digitally on all relevant streaming platforms in a newly remastered version done by Erik Grösch.

Some well-attended live performances by the quintet in the surrounding area followed and at the same time the bands worked on the songs for the second album, with the aim of being able to present it by 2020 at the latest. However, with the onset of the pandemic and the associated restrictions, this schedule could not be adhered to, and work had to be interrupted again and again.

But in 2022 the time has finally come and "Twisting The Affair", as the second album is called, offers finest progressive music with 9 new tracks and a running time of around 49 minutes and will be available on all digital streaming platforms from October 28th. In addition, the CD will also be available in physical form end of November 2022 on the band's website.
